About these herbs

Two classic herbs of the Western tradition meet in this blend. Mullein (Verbascum thapsus) leaf has been used for generations as a demulcent for the respiratory tract, and its flower is the subject of a European Medicines Agency traditional-use monograph for soothing an irritated throat and dry cough. Burdock (Arctium lappa) root is one of herbalism’s best-known “alteratives” — herbalists have traditionally used it as a blood-purifying and skin-supporting root, and published research has documented its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and liver-protective activities in laboratory studies. Paired together, they are a simple, traditional combination — soft leaf above ground, deep root below.

Suggested use

Shake well. Adults: take 1–2 droppersful (about 1–2 mL) in a little water or under the tongue, up to 3 times daily. Start at the lower amount and see how you respond.

Caution & disclaimer: This product is offered for educational and traditional purposes only. It has not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration, and it is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. Avoid burdock if you are allergic to the Asteraceae (daisy) family; some references advise that burdock may slow blood clotting, so stop use before surgery and use caution with blood-thinning medicines. Safety in pregnancy and breastfeeding is not established — talk with your doctor before use, and check with your healthcare provider if you take prescription medication.
